Cost of building the site.

I've been quoted $3499 to $3999 to build the site. We'll be setting up a gofundme or kickstarter page as well as direct PayPal donations if anyone would be interested in helping. So far; $340 for the server + 6 months of co-location. $340 will be due in another 6 months for the remaining balance on ...

Re: Server ordered

Server is setup and running now.

Just got to get the SSL Cert setup for the domains and she'll be ready.

Still working things out with the company who I've reached out to for building the site. Should have a quote on how much it costs in the next day or two.

New domain, possibly

I also bought boingames.com. So we can use either b-games.org or boincgames.com

Opinions on one or the other?

Server ordered

Bought a server to host this.

It's a dual Intel L5640 Xeon with 32GB RAM and two, 2TB SATA drives. Server will be in a datacenter with a 1Gbps connection.

Hope this will handle whatever load the site generates.

Suggestions and Ideas

I would really like to hear suggestions and ideas from all teams who would like to participate. My goal here is to not make this a "one man" show, but have multiple people from multiple teams all working together to make this work. This should alleviate the burden of one single person running this. ...

If apache needs to be restarted then something is broken, but setting up scripts to ensure apache is running and start if necessary is easy to do. I get what you're saying though and that is my ultimate goal.

Nice, good choices. I'm leaning towards division and conference. I was also thinking of scheduling the sprints during major sporting events. Re: b-games.org

I was thinking. Let teams choose which "league" (any ideas on what to call each besides league?) They want. To help keep the powerful teams from dominating a lower tiered league I intend to have stats similar to how SG does the Pent with hourly update totals, -12H, -24H, etc... For the big league, b...

Re: b-games.org

I've been thinking about the multiple league part and not sure what to do about that. More specifically, how to determine who goes where. Was waiting for someone else to bring that up to see their opinion on it. If we can figure out a fair way to have more than one league then each league will run a...

Re: b-games.org

Lots to reply to here, but one thing I want to address before I get home from work. I am thinking, on the individual user registration requirement have a section on the users control panel to enter their UID for each respected project themselves. I'm just not sure how this could be abused. As long a...

Re: b-games.org

So far I've come up with; Marathons that run for the entire year. These marathons will be broken up into 4 segments of 3 months. Every 3 months, the standings are final and those points are permanent until the next year. If the project goes away, for whatever reason, it gives the ability for a new p...

b-games.org

http://www.b-games.org/

Bought a domain. Now I just need to get a list together of all the features and what not the site will be capable of. Then I can hire a programmer to code it for me and a site designer to design it.

With that being said, let the ideas flow.

Re: Remote access of networked machines

I will say with TeamViewer I could not change the resolution. It would be stuck on a low resolution. Anydesk I can change it. The rig I tested it on was running Windows 10, but I'm pretty sure it works on my Windows 7 PC with discrete graphics cards. It runs headless and I have to remote into it oft...

Re: Remote access of networked machines

What are these "dummy monitor plugs" and why are you using them? I don't have any dummy plugs on any of my remote machines and they all work just fine. I've only used a monitor on them to initially set them up, but once I did that nothing is plugged into the GPUs. Also, you can edit the cc_config an...
