According to this link, polio has been eradicated in all continents except Asia. It's still endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Re: Linux: How to disable mitigations for CPU vulnerabilities
I shut down the 2P Ivy beast for now. The PPD is between a 3700X and a 3900X and it draws 310 watts from the wall with turbo boost off. I'll replace it when you can actually buy hardware sometime in the future.

Re: Linux: How to disable mitigations for CPU vulnerabilities
It was a small nuisance to figure out how to set the GRUB config accordingly in Mint. For others using Mint: sudo nano /etc/default/grub Before editing: GRUB_DEFAULT=0 GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian` GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAUL...

MLC@Home Cuda app is CPU limited
I've noticed that the MLC cuda app is CPU limited so it may be a good project for some low powered cards. Observations with a 2070S on a 3700X running universe on the CPUs: 1) 1 MLC cuda task per GPU with one free CPU thread (~65% shader utilization) 2) 2 MLC cuda tasks per GPU with 2 free CPU threa...

²) ran two tasks at a time per GPU, 100 % shader utilization, < 115 W GPU power I'm using your app_config.xml to run 2 tasks at a time on 3 GPUs in linux. The RTX2070S and 1080Ti are on the same machine so I can't determine average run times for each GPU. RTX2070: 100% shader utilization / 105 watt...

Here's the race threads at Anandtech and the [H]ardForum.
We need some TAAT members to sign up or else they will kick our butts.

Maybe I'm overreacting but I'm thinking the worst case scenario. Is there any way to find out if he took out a life insurance policy on your daughter?

I have a GTX 980 on my Ivy 2P (headless). When I log in via SSH and run nvidia-smi, the card is pulling 13 watts at idle.

Re: Help With Asus Z10PC-D8
Is it possible your PSU is the problem? I see you have both 8 pin connectors plugged into the MB so that's good. I see in the manual on p 2-18 that it won't post if there's not enough power. I know this is a stretch but I can't think of anything else to try. E5-2690V4 is 135 W TDP E5-2680V3 is 120 W...

Re: F@H Challenge thread, 2021
Markfw and pokey would definitely like to participate but they each average 42 M PPD on FAH. [H] as a team is averaging 169,115,049 PPD so maybe the same format as last year would work. It depends on how many TAAT members sign up and how many GPUs they toss into the race.

Re: [PrimeGrid] Changes to GFN Apps
This is an interesting thread on PG. I'm not clear on what it means exactly but it sounds like GFN-21 and GFN-22 tasks may use FP64 on some cards.

Re: Pfizer/BioNtech covid-19 vaccine looks encouraging
StefanR5R all the points made in the BBC article are valid along with the points you made. However, a high rate of efficacy in the early stages of a phase III clinical is most encouraging. :) The Oxford vaccine uses a different delivery system so I'm hopeful their vaccine will also show efficacy in...

Pfizer/BioNtech covid-19 vaccine looks encouraging
It's early phase 3 efficacy data and safety data will come in a week or so but it looks good so far. Time will tell.

Re: Hardware RIP Thread
That reminds me of petrusbroder having an issue with one of his computer years back where he had a power cable failure. There was no visible damage so it took him awhile to track the problem down. I guess that's one more item to add to my troubleshooting checklist.
