Re: Suggestions and Ideas

So that means everything needs to be ready and working before December 2020.
Gotta love typos...lol. Sounds like you have it pretty well decided on then. Just let us know when to break things and we will take a look. :D

Re: Suggestions and Ideas

Right. You can never keep everyone happy. However, then we need to make sure that viewpoint is related from the beginning as well. It is the standpoint of the competition that ......... Then people coming in know what is expected and to leave the bitching behind. I'm fine with not including the slee...

Re: Suggestions and Ideas

The crypto thing falls into this because it seems to be a major issue in every BOINC competition out there. It is important for there to be an open stance on it from the very beginning. I agree some will put everything they have into it which also opens their team up to fall behind. If you are ok wi...

Re: Suggestions and Ideas

No, I am not expecting you or anyone else to reward anyone with crypto. I'm stating to embrace both sides of the community and not ostracize one over the other. If testing the server is set points regardless of contribution, I don't see why all the teams would really care outside of a few hosts. We ...

Re: Suggestions and Ideas

Going further on the "test sprints". If you would want to show some kind of acknowledgement for those that diverted resources to test projects that were not getting "points" for the event, then you could make consolation prizes. Kind of like the "miss congeniality" awar...

Re: Suggestions and Ideas

So, I finally got to skim over a lot of the suggestions already made in other threads. However, some of them were made before some of these others. Therefore I will try to address the concerns in this thread per the topic. I don't like the idea of having "Test Sprints" that award points fo...

WCG is BETA testing GPU work units

https://hardforum.com/threads/wcg-beta- ... s.2007857/

Looks like they plan to support 64bit OS's only and AMD/nVidia/Intel GPU's.

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

OH..and I unlocked both Pixel 3a XL's pretty easy using ADB. However, the Note 9's I will probably have to pay a chop shop 3rd party to do as I'm not finding any do it yourself options out there. Edit: If I was a T-Mobile customer or wanted to be an ATT customer, I could trade each of the Note 9's f...

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

Yeah...my Pixel 2XL has the authenticators and I'm about to switch from my S8+ to the Pixel 3a XL. Even with the other phone, migrating them is a huge PITA. 2FA doesn't mean it has to be an authenticator app but some sites don't offer any other option. I am kind of liking the other device to have it...

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

finished my treasure finding with 2 Pixel 3a XL's (which I unlocked via ADB) and 2 Galaxy Note 9's which I'm looking into unlock options. All 4 phones were $24 each. Talk about a score.

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

Yeah..it isn't every store. These are being clearanced since T-Mobile doesn't want to sell any more Sprint CDMA phones after their merger. But these work on GSM as well. The only issue is if you don't use Sprint/T-Mobile, you will need to find an unlocking service for them. I plan on using them for ...

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

Check out this deal... https://slickdeals.net/f/14748470-googl ... ommentsBox

I just picked up 2 of them this morning. Now, I just need to find an unlocking service for them as I don't intend on using Sprint. If not, I may try flipping them for nice profit.

Re: F@H Challenge thread, 2021

I am also not sure how much of that production jump will stick around as at least one user that contributed a very large amount recently said it was only temporary. But, yes we are hoping to get more stick around as tempers have calmed over the years.

Re: F@H Challenge thread, 2021

Well...that is part of the issue. TAAT and [H] have a good relationship with each other and helping out. Not a lot of teams left that have good relations like that. OcUK is pretty much dead these days. EVGA (both BOINC and FAH) are barely limping along. (though they are traditionally our enemies) No...

Re: F@H Challenge thread, 2021

A few of the same members from last year and a few of the newer members that have joined up has recently stated some interest. We are only slowly gaining more interest in a FAH again. I cannot tell you what overall participation will look like as the forums are pretty lacking in participation and mo...

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

Fair enough. I was told by the former co-worker that Swappa would even hold the money from the seller for a period of time to guarantee the product was as described. That way there was more peace of mind when ordering used gear. I typically only order used if it isn't going to be a daily phone. Espe...

Have you ever tried using Swappa? I had a former co-worker that swore by them and they typically have pretty fair prices as well.

Re: Lucky me...

You certainly have been pretty lucky. I'm not much into gambling but have started to do some minor hedge betting this past year with one of the beermoney sites I use. You don't make much on the betting routine some of us do, but it certainly takes advantage of the earning system at the primary site ...

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

Good to hear. The only reason I switched from my 2XL to a Galaxy S8+ was because CO was selling a pair for a reasonable price. My wife needed a new phone and she told me to pick them both up. So, I did. I kind of miss using the Pixel 2XL though. Only thing that I don't like about it is that they use...

Re: Broke my phone pretty badly...

Interesting story. Did you ever pull the trigger on another one? I picked up 3 Pixel 2's to sit next to my Pixel 2XL doing beermoney apps. They were kind of expensive for this use but I knew that they had good resale value and were pretty much compatible with every carrier and had good enough specs ...

It looks like they actually will let just anyone wander in here. 8-) I think most people know who I am. Those that don't, well..... I'm a co-captain of [H]ard|OCP. I've been DC'ing since 2007 and have contributed to probably close to 150 projects by now. I've cut back a ton as I've accumulated a few...
