Re: Cheap EPYC Rome 7742 and 7402 for sale.

I also looked for rackmount cases but never found one which isn't very deep but, importantly, is high enough to fit the 140/150mm class tower coolers. They used to make some cheap 4U cases that you could use the server boards in. Then just take a dremel (or whatever similar tool they have in German...

Even if they are vendor locked this is a good price
If it's vendor locked then you can only use a vendor (Dell) branded Motherboard with them and even then, they might not work. So essentially you'll have a $1000 (or however much they cost) paperweight.

Re: Cheap EPYC Rome 7742 and 7402 for sale.

One benefit to building two separate setups instead of 2 CPUs on one is more PCI-e lanes for GPUs when using two separate systems. Since 1 CPU should be enough to handle the PCIe lanes for maximum GPUs, adding a second CPU to the same system wont give you more GPU slots.

Re: Multiple GPU build ideas

Am I correct in assuming with this having a BMC and IPMI that I will be able to access bios settings, or choose my OS on dual boot, etc. across the network without physical access to it? If so that would be incredibly useful. I've never actually used that feature before so I wasn't 100% sure. Yes, ...

I'll link Icecold TAAT thread in our [H] forum. Feel free to post it on all the teams pages who you think would be interested in it. 8-) Keep in mind, if you registered once already on the old site at mindmockups, you'll need to register again on the real domain since the database was started fresh.

Re: Multiple GPU build ideas

I wonder if AMD has a better chance of their boards supporting this since AMD isn't strict on their PCI-e lanes available to their CPUs.

Re: Multiple GPU build ideas

That should be the correct bios page. Maybe that specific board doesn't support it? :( I did get a message from my WTB post on [H] form somebody that said "I have a handful of full-size AsRock Rack server mb's that are socket 2011v3. They all support bifurcation. " so I'm in the process of trying t...

Re: EVGA RTX 3070 Ti Queue

Man this is so tempting. I really want a 3080 or 3090 though. Been gaming on my 5700 XT, which I'm not too happy with. Seems to under perform. Have a 144Hz 1080P monitor and it'll barely do over 60 FPS on this GPU. It's one of the reason why I haven't really been jumping on those 5950X stock, becaus...

Re: Multiple GPU build ideas

From what we have learned with bifurcation. Documentation on it is nearly non-existent. The board could have support for it, but not mention it in the manual. Best way to know 100% for sure is to boot into the BIOS and look for it.

Yes, the information was once posted in the private forums. Can't believe Kyle dropped them like a sack of potatoes. So glad I left that forum.

I wish we could get in touch with atp in hopes that he archived the tests he done or his memory is better than mine.

Been slowly adding projects to the database.

Need someone who is good at communication to reach out to the projects to ask if they're okay with being used as a Sprint on our site.
Also need someone to reach out to some other teams to get them to sign up on the site.

Re: Cost of building the site.

Some edits on the costs. I was billed twice, back in April when I got the new server. One was for $340 while the other bill was for $360. I was in talks with the datacenter at that time about switching my billing from semi annually to the full year. So when the second invoice arrived on the 12th, I ...

Re: Multiple GPU build ideas

Holy crap. lol I stopped buying GPUs since the recent Mining "boom" has caused them to increase so much in price. Even the 280x GPUs that I was once picking up for around $70 shipped have gone up over $100 shipped now. So I stopped buying them, but I also ran into an issue where I can't run some of ...

Re: Multiple GPU build ideas

Well hopefully GPUs come way down in cost soon, because 30+ 3070s will cost $30k alone. lol

Only reason I picked that setup specifically is because we know it will work. I don't know what to look for to determine if a motherboard will support that feature or not.

Re: Multiple GPU build ideas

Its hard to tell, but it looks like he used those to split the x16 slots into two x16 slots (x8, x8) but those x8 slots on the motherboard seem to have a x16 riser on them 1:1. or something. There are different sizes available of those cards he used for the x16 to two x16 slots. https://c-payne.com/...
