BoincTasks Js for debian linux
Thanks to emoga for mentioning this in Discord. There is a native version of BoincTasks Js (java script?) for debian linux which works quite nicely on my main computer which is running linux mint 20.3. https://efmer.com/boinctasks-js/boinctasks-js-download/ I downloaded version 1.27 and to install: ...

Re: Linux system utilities
Some times I forget details like MB model/bios version, and other hardware and software information. I have a main computer which has ssh terminal links to my other computers so the app 'inxi" works well for me to quickly gather system information on my other computers. sudo inxi -Fxxx mark@x32-linu...

The proper pronunciation is just a bit odd to me so I say "BOE-INK".

Boinc.Italy has a page with list of science disciplines/boinc projects with links to lists of publications for each project. However, I'm not sure how up to date it is.

How to Install the Latest AMD Drivers on Debian 10 Buster
I noticed this article recommends installing mesa-opencl-icd for opencl support. Mesa opencl will not work with boinc projects so you will still need the opencl support files from AMDGPU drivers listed above.

Re: Installing AMD drivers on Linux
Yes, my only experience is with the Radeon VII. I believe the last AMD proprietary driver for the 280X was released in 2015 (Crimson Edition 15.12). This driver supported Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS, 14.04.2. I doubt this driver will install on Debian 10. There is this post by Gary Roberts at Einstein which ...

Re: Einstein - Improved apps for nvidia cards
I installed my new 3080Ti yesterday (350 watt TDP) and am running Einstein on the "new" opencl 3.0 app. The OS is Mint 20.3 and TnGrid is running on 30 threads (5950X). The power limit is set using 'sudo nvidia-smi -pl 275' as an example for setting the power limit at 275 watts. Default power limit ...

Yeah, Einstein doesn't use DP math. Apparently memory bandwith/performance is one factor for Einstein performance but I think it's more complicated than that.Fardringle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 10:12 amuck! Re: Einstein - Improved apps for nvidia cards
The BOINC coproc_info.xml file also shows OpenCL 3.0 on all of the computers so I guess that means it should work even for the really old cards... According to the thread above, the server only distributes the new app to computers with Nvidia compute capability 6.1 or higher. It might be worth test...

Pfizer just started a phase 2/3 clinical trial with a Covid-19 main protease inhibitor. Of course, their compound will be patented and they will charge what the market will bear.

Re: Einstein - Improved apps for nvidia cards
Apparently AMD doesn't have a driver that supports OpenCL 3.0 yet. The AMD driver situation on linux is a mess. The new drivers only support rcr (rocm) and legacy installation options. They dropped support for PAL which is required for MilkyWay app support on the Radeon VII. I rebooted my Radeon VII...

The main thread is here: https://einsteinathome.org/content/all-things-nvidia According this thread, the new apps require OpenCL 3.0. Same here on my 3950X.

The app version distributed by mint is an older version. Perhaps installing the latest version manually would fix that error.
