Dealing with an ISP is tedious but maybe less so than dealing with unreliable internet. I think I would also ask the provider to replace the modem, or even just buy my own to avoid that hassle, if they allow you to.

I didn't think about the redundant PSU's load balancing. The low ball offer was $550. I don't know that I think those machines are worth more than maybe $750 personally.

I just meant the power supply in the unit is rated at 1000 watts at 120v, 1600 watts at 240v. Might cut it a bit close on power too if plugged into a standard outlet. It's 1000 watts plugged into a normal outlet, 1600 watts on a 240v outlet. 3 video cards plus 56 Xeon cores crunching could be close to 1000 watts.

The problem with that breakout board is that the 8 pin EPS connector is just jumpered off the main ATX connector.
