Re: [climateprediction.net] Linux work *perhaps* coming up in quantity

I'd really like to be able to run CPDN, if there's anything I can do to to facilitate it. Perhaps I should try fewer tasks, most of the times I checked in on them they were close to being out of memory. EDIT: Actually I notice that one host seems to be doing okay, so I will let that one run: https:/...

Re: [climateprediction.net] Linux work *perhaps* coming up in quantity

All of the computers I am running this on are experiencing very high error rates at this time.
In fact, not one of the new units has been completed successfully.

I'm going to stop running it.

Re: [climateprediction.net] Linux work *perhaps* coming up in quantity

I am reminded to be grateful for the fiber optic network that my telco has recently installed at both of my locations, even though we are considered to be in a rural area, they are apparently forward-looking and willing to invest (and also to receive government subsidies, presumably).

Re: Weekly DC Stats scripts

May I have the OGR-28 and RC5-72 cache files from December 4, or from today? My cron job did not run last week. I still have not set up redundant stats collection on a 2nd PC

Re: [climateprediction.net] Linux work *perhaps* coming up in quantity

Long run times and the inability to survive a reboot is a recipe for failure. I keep wanting to like this project, but they make it tough. With the high RAM and network requirements, it would be really great if multithreading could be implemented.

Re: [climateprediction.net] Linux work *perhaps* coming up in quantity

I have only about 10Mbps upload at the shop, so I should be mindful of task number since the connection is not dedicated to just CPDN. Right now I have 22 tasks running.

Re: [climateprediction.net] Linux work *perhaps* coming up in quantity

I've set one host to ask for work. CPDN doesn't like to be bothered too often, they've set their server to ask for a 3636 second comm deferral.

Last time I ran CPDN, the tasks took weeks to complete. I'd like to start helping again if the new tasks are not so long.

I got "System Error" when clicking that link. Wonder if the Krembil folks bit off a little more than they could chew.

Re: Weekly DC Stats scripts

I got the scripts working, my numbers seem to match kiska's who seems to be the substitute stats poster for 13Nov2022. Note to self or any other possible substitute, analternate way to invoke the weekly_stats_dump.sh script is something like this: ./weekly_stats_dump.sh > weekly_stats_dump_output.tx...

Re: Weekly DC Stats scripts

The computer I had doing the daily stats backup for me had a drive failure, and with all that has been going on in my life I neglected to post here to say so, and to get started again. So it's a really good thing that you posted this, because it had completely slipped my mind. I'll be starting again...

Re: Weekly DC Stats scripts

Looks like my cron job completed successfully, and there is a text file of the current stats in the home directory. One thing I'm not sure of is whether that file will be appended or overwritten next week. If it's to be appended, I should delete it manually or learn how to command it to be so in the...

Re: Weekly DC Stats scripts

StefanR5R I have successfully completed a test run of this weeks stats, and compared the output with your stats post on the AT forum. The only differences are between my Folding stats and yours, but I believe this may be because they update more often than the other stats. If you think this may be ...

I don't know/remember anything about the Numberfields GPU app. It looks like a significant amount of computing is coming from the GPU apps:

That could be true, I am not diligent about turning that off. I wish there was a place in one's profile to have it off by default, it's "help" is just a hindrance almost all the time. I looked at the BBcode of your June 19th post and it did have the dots coded for italics, but as far as I ...

Re: Weekly DC Stats scripts

I don't know, but I had to copy/paste the terminal output into gedit and replace all "." with

Code: Select all

"[i].[/i]"
If this was supposed to be automatic then I did something wrong. But, it was mostly pretty easy, so I am not complaining at all!

Code: Select all

Select all the RC5-72 stats section then use the replace tool in Notepad or Notepad++ to replace . with [i].[/i]
