So it seems BOINC has a system setup to prove you're the account owner to external sites.
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ProofOfOwnership
However, I have not been able to locate a project (i've checked around 10 of them) that offers this.
Does anyone know of a project that has this enabled?

Re: Proof of Ownership
I knew I'd seen it somewhere and wondered what it was, it is on Minecraft, displayed on your account page as: Account Ownership Generate ownership proof

Re: Proof of Ownership
After doing some more research and asking questions in other places I believe I will implement a similar system them Gridcoin uses.
Where the user will get a random key when they sign up and they'll have to change their name on one of the projects in the competition to that key. Then when my system gathers the data from that project it can confirm the random key name and CPID match, thus allowing the registration.
Granted this could take up to a day (or more depending on how often the data is updated) to happen, but users will only have to do this once.

Re: Proof of Ownership
So, how's this proof of ownership going to work for me? I have two email addresses that I use for BOINC! One is for PrimeGrid, and really gets mail. The other, for all the other sites, is an old Bigfoot address that doesn't get mail anymore. Do I have to change everything to my main address and get spammed by BOINC projects? Can I change my email on one project, do the name change, then change both back?

Well I've never got spam from any BOINC projects, but... is your CPID the same across all projects?Ken_g6 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 3:58 pm So, how's this proof of ownership going to work for me? I see this is your primegrid CPID: https://stats.free-dc.org/userbycpid/91 ... 16bfb89fd0
This is your other accounts: https://stats.free-dc.org/userbycpid/5f ... 1995334d66
So what you would need to do is make an account on boincgames.com for BOTH the CPIDs. (you can use whatever email you want)
For PrimeGrid CPID, you'll need to change your name on that account.
For the other CPIDs, you'll need to change your name on ONE of the accounts.
