Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
I'm looking for around 5 people who will be willing to help maintain the web site.
This will include managing active projects by adding or removing them from the competition.
Helping set up the "test" sprints for stress testing the project servers.
Moderating the forums.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
I have no qualifications for such work, but I am willing to help/learn as long as the damage I'm able to inflict during inevitable mistakes can be easily fixed (having current backups, limiting the scope of my power, etc.).
That said, you'd be better off with someone a little closer to the IT biz than me, obviously. (I'm what the Aussies call a panel beater)

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Well I can get volunteers setup on the backend right now. So if ya break something it won't really matter and we can learn from it.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
I don't have the experience either but I'm willing to give it a go.
Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
I'll get you setup tonight after work. Just PM me a username you want to use for admin, your name, and an email for it.
Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
I guess I'll also volunteer for the task of maintenance

Username: kiska
Name: James
Email: kiska@kiska.pw
Whatever

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Has to be a different username that you aren't using for regular user.
The admin control panel is a different login, but shares the same user table. So usernames have to be unique.

I guess go with:
Username: kiska3
Name: James
Email: kiska@kiska.pw
EDIT: Just chuck a number on the end of it

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Okay, I'll get you setup when I get back to my computer or laptop. Might be Sunday.
Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Might be worth redacting your email @kiska unless it's one you're not concerned about. This is a public section of the message board so you might get web crawlers grabbing your email for spam purposes.
Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Those of you with admin. So you guys can get familiar with how to work it. Add 2 - 3 projects to the marathons, select whether they're eligible for a sprints and then setup 1 Sprint that'll start a 2 days after the current one ends or the last Sprint on the list ends.
Add projects you don't mind running so you can check the stats to make sure they're updating correctly.
If any issues happen, send me a PM. Make sure you take a screenshot of the error if one is present, detailed description of the problem and how to replicate it. Plus any info that may help the development team find it and correct it.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Since I'm running Rosetta for the foreseeable future, I added it as a marathon project and made it sprint eligible. I also scheduled a sprint starting the 17th of this month.
Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Make sure you edit the start and stop time. The Sprint is scheduled to start at 25 minutes after the hour. I think they'll be better to start on the hour, since the stats will update on the hour.
Also, do not select the Sprint project. Make sure it's set so a random sprint will be selected. I know you can select a specific project, but to stop the massive bunkers the Sprint won't be announced until it starts each time.
Each user will recieve an email of the select sprint when it begins.

I didn't get this memo before starting a WCG Sprint. Will cancel on request.Skillz wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 3:59 pm Make sure you edit the start and stop time. Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
It's not that big a deal, just want you guys to get familiar with it all.
The Sprints dates will be setup and known prior to the start of the year (or within' a couple weeks) anyway so it will only need to be done once anyway.
I'm thinking of running around 6 Sprints a year, and scheduling them so they don't conflict with the PG Challenge series, Pentathlon, WCG Birthday Race and the December F@H Race.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
So far I haven't seen any stats show up in the Rosetta@home marathon. Hopefully I didn't make a mistake when I added the project.

After looking at the boinc webRpc page, it looks like you need the userID and teamID to obtain hourly stats for users and teams. Maybe I'm using the wrong syntax but I have not been able to obtain information using username, team name or CPID.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
I havent looked at all the new projects everyone has added yet. Been working out of town.
Tonight I'll break out my laptop and see what may be wrong.
Sprints use WebRPC.
Marathons use the user stats file.
So if you didn't enter the team stats and user stats files when you added the project then it won't work.
Otherwise, it'll take a couple days to show stats.
First day the stats run it gets the "starting" points. Then the next day the stats run it'll do the math to see how many points you've added.
This could take almost 72 hours, depending on when the stats file was downloaded and you added the project.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Stats are updating on the marathon now.
Pretty sure the Sprint will need something custom done on it, so I've made a post on the WCG forums asking how to get it done.
If they don't give me access to do hourly updates, then WCG will be omitted from the Sprint.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
I tried adding Einstein@home but the stats page requires a username/password for access.

Re: Volunteers to help run and maintain the site
Well I have asked for the password.
https://einsteinathome.org/content/stat ... permission
While writing this post and the one on WCG earlier this week it's come to my attention that I need to appoint someone else to do this who is better at writing than me.
